If you are
deep-frying, use long tongs when adding the food to the oil. Hold the food a
tad below the surface of the oil for five or six seconds before letting it go.
This seals the outside of the food and keeps it from sticking to cookware or
any other food.

When you are
cooking pasta you should cook it about 60 seconds less than the cooking time
that is printed on the package. You can then put the pasta in whatever sauce
you have prepared with it and let it complete its cooking process while it
soaks up all of the flavors of the sauce.
Taste your
food as you go along. One of the biggest mistakes a cook can make is to not
taste their own food! You should know how it tastes before you serve it to your
guests. If you taste it frequently as you go along, you will be able to correct
any missteps that occur before there is too much damage to the dish.
Choose cuts
of meat when roasting. Large rib roasts or tenderloin can be terribly expensive.
When roasting meat, consider buying a cut of meat instead. It will save you a
lot of money. Legs of lamb, turkey breasts, even pork shoulder are all capable
of being just as delicious while being far more affordable.
If you are
cooking a soup or stew and you add too much salt to the pot you can add a
peeled white potato to the pot and continue boiling it. The starch in the
potato will help to absorb a lot of the extra salt. You can repeat with an
additional potato if it is still too salty.
To have meat
stock on hand, freeze it in ice cube trays. Homemade stock is delicious and
cheaper than ready made. Two large cubes is equal to 1/4 cup of liquid stock.
By freezing your stock, you can make large batches of your own and then it will
be on hand when you need it.
So, now you
are better prepared. Tips always make a difficult job easier. Follow the advice
in this article and use it whenever you find yourself cooking for yourself or
others. Enjoy the company you are sharing you meal with have them asking for more!
